Maine to Main: Celebrating the Historic Downtown Area

Have you visited the incredibly rich and exciting historic downtown area of Brunswick, Maine? If you haven’t yet, here’s your chance!

Brunswick’s Maine to Main Exhibit, which opened June and runs through December in downtown, features a gallery exhibit at the Pejepscot Historical Society as well as walking tours of downtown Brunswick.

The gallery exhibit at the historical society will show off tons of historical treasures that played an important role in the history of our state and county, all of which are related to the main thoroughfares in our town and neighboring regions.

Visitors to the exhibit can take in these artifacts, and then participate in a walk down memory lane in five sections along the nationally recognized historical roadway in the heart of Brunswick. The walking tour will begin with the First Parish Church in Brunswick, and includes places such as the corner of Main and Elm in neighboring Topsham and other historical outposts along the way. Check out how our town’s infrastructure was built and experience what it would have been like for the previous generations as they traveled along these historical thoroughfares.

This exhibit will be open through late December, and admission is free! They’ll be open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the PHS Museum and Research Center, 159 Park Row.
